Selected by A.S. Hamrah: “I wanted to show a German film about America in this American city where so many Europeans came to make films about America (and sometimes about Germany). But the difference with Class Relations is that, although it takes place in America, it was shot in Germany (except for two shots). It’s based on Franz Kafka’s incomplete novel, Amerika, which is set in the US even though Kafka never came here either, and which wasn’t published in his lifetime.”
