No-one does grim like Lars Von Trier. Over in small town Scotland, Emily Watson goes to church while her husband works on an oil rig. He gets paralyzed in an accident, and then he asks her to fuck other people to give him a reason to live. She’s tortured by the idea, but soon gives in, in that weird Christian style of punishing yourself to reach salvation. It’s a laugh riot. But in all seriousness, this is one of Von Trier’s best, part of the Dogme 95 years and cathartic viewing.
