The original title of this move translates as “Radish Actor” and I love that so, so much. A traveling acting troupe land in a small town – they drink sake, do their thing and watch the falling rain. This is Ozu, our lord and master, in his mature phase and pulling off literally one of the all time greatest films with ease. Watch it for the colour palette or mise en scene alone and you’ll be enriched.
