A screening of the short film I Snuck off the Slave Ship by artist Lonnie Holley, followed by a live set by Holley and his band. Holley choreographs an ecstatic Afrofuturist tone poem to his own music in an assemblage of his encounters with the slave ship “America” and a testament to imagination as resistance. This event is co-presented by Blum & Poe gallery in celebration of Holley’s first solo exhibition in Los Angeles, opening Saturday, July 9.
