From Michel Gondry comes a jazzy little number where every scene feels like an improvisation by Duke Ellington’s Orchestra. Colin (Romain Duris, THE BEAT MY HEART SKIPPED) is a wealthy bachelor and inventor whose idyllic life is turned upside down when he decides the “feeling of solitude is unfair” and demands to fall in love. Happiness arrives in the form of Chloe (Audrey Tautou of AMÉLIE) and the two fall headfirst into a pitch-perfect romance, that is, before Chloe’s sudden illness threatens to destroy their scrapbook fantasy. Dedicating himself to his beloved’s recovery, Colin takes a series of increasingly absurd jobs to pay for the only cure to her ailment — flowers.  A wildly inventive adaptation of Boris Vian’s cult novel, filled with the whirls and clicks of anthropomorphized gizmos, where bubbles contain cameras capturing lovers in embrace; pianos dispense cocktails; cars made of cardboard drive through the streets; and people float in the clouds. The most complete vision from Gondry by far.
