We Direct Music Videos Presents: The Directors Series Vol. 6 – Floria Sigismondi

Coming on August 4

Run Time: 120 min.

We Direct Music Videos is thrilled to present Volume 6 of The Directors Series. This time, our guest is the iconic Floria Sigismondi. Join us for a program of music videos selected by Floria Sigismondi alongside a career-spanning discussion. Floria’s audacious music-video imagery and trademark style have made her one of the most acclaimed directors in the genre’s history with videos for artists like Rihanna, Bjork, David Bowie, Sigur Ros, The White Stripes, Interpol, Leonard Cohen, Fiona Apple, The Cure, and Christian Aguilera. Most recently, Floria’s video for Sam Smith featuring Kim Petras, “Unholy,” won “Video for Good” at the MTV EMAs and Video of the Year at the Juno Awards and the New York International Fashion Film Festival and earned five nominations at the MTV VMAs including Best Direction and Video of the Year. Previously, Floria’s video for Justin Timberlake’s “Mirrors,” won the MTV VMA Video of the Year as did her video for Sigur Ros, “Untitled,” at the MTV EMAs. Spectacle, the first museum exhibition to celebrate the art and history of the music video, showcased Floria’s enormous influence. Her videos for David Bowie, “Little Wonder” and “Dead Man Walking,” have earned permanent spots in New York’s Museum of Modern Art. In 2023, Floria was awarded at CAMERIMAGE for Directing Achievements in the Field of Music Videos. The Directors Series is a celebration of the artistry of music videos and those who make them. As the music video continues to change and mutate in unknowable directions, we want to take stock of the directors and art we love, presenting hand-picked collections of videos in a format rare to the music video: theatrically, with a live audience, and with the filmmakers on hand to discuss their work.

Please note that this screening is not eligible for Brain Dead Studios membership discounts, and tickets must be purchased separately.
